Fun, frugal and compact is what the Suzuki Alto Works is all about
This one has a manual transmission, factory-fit Recaro seats and a turbocharged motor too!
The Suzuki Alto Works is a turbocharged performance kei hatchback that’s now been sold in Japan for over 40-years.
It’s no wonder the Suzuki Alto nameplate has become synonymous with compact and lightweight fun. Dubbed Alto Works ‘ha36s’ – and still sold new in the Motherland – this current-generation Suzuki weighs just 720kg and is powered by a 660cc turbocharged triple with 47kW/100Nm.
Consider it’s power-to-weight for a second; then factor in the inherent goodness that comes with lightweight cars. The resulting package is incredibly fun to drive – and will no-doubt make you smile.
And, at 3.39-metres wide by 1.47-metres long, you’ll still fit four adults comfortably in a Suzuki Alto Works. We managed to fit two baby seats in the back – check out the interior gallery for proof!
If you’re looking for a compact car with a bit of bite – you’ve come to the right place.

Our Suzuki Alto Works was built in June 2016 and is a ‘Turbo” trim level.
That means it’s powered by a steadfast ‘R06A’ 660cc three-cylinder turbocharged engine with 47kW/100Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.
It was also factory-optioned with black Recaro seats. Standard gear includes smart key entry and start, full LED automatic headlights and a Japanese double-din stereo.
This example car was further enhanced with high-quality Japanese performance parts, including an R’s Racing Service ECU tune and adjustable coilover suspension plus a short shift kit from T-Cars Racing (Alto Works Specialists).
The ECU tune brings power up to a palatable level, and the short-shift kit adds greater precision to the transmission lever’s throw. The standard suspension has been retained and comes with the car.
