Like the Honda NSX that came before, the mid-engine and turbocharged Honda S660 represents pure driving joy.
Everything from its controls, balance, and ironically its rear wheel size are in-line with the NSX.
It’s clear Honda channelled all of its midship knowledge into building the Honda S660.
Despite being small, it’s a bona fide sports car. On the Touge – especially downhill – it’s rapid, and also has a high tolerance against inertia due to its lightweight nature and mid-engine balance.
You’ll be surprised at how fast you can flow it through a nice set of bends. It’s engine is turbocharged and provide good-enough performance, but like the original, a few mods (and extra kilowatts) don’t hurt at all.
The factory tyres is a high-performance Advan Sport items that honestly belong on an entry-level track car. We reckon the six-speed manual is the pick, and if you can stretch your budget to a top-of-the-range Modulo X Version Z – definitely do that.
The car pictured – 2016 Honda S660 Alpha
This Honda S660 was built in 2016 and is a “Alpha” trim level.
That means it’s a top-of-the-range model for its year and comes with keyless entry and start, full LED automatic headlights, 15/16-inch staggered alloy wheels with high-performance Advan tyres, and a storage box in the front for the soft-top.
This specific example was finished in pearl white with a six-speed manual and had a full service history alongside two keys.
