Japanese WRX STIs were powered by the formidable 2.0-litre EJ207 engine

It is a better powertrain than the Australian 2.5-litre EJ257 engine

Performance cars have many important attributes – but it’s the powertrain that’s easily one of the most important.

Over on home soil, Subaru Japan exclusively used its legendary 2.0-litre ‘EJ207’ right until the end of the last-generation WRX STI.

This is the same engine that debuted in the mighty Legacy RS with Colin McRae in World Rally and also ran for over 20 years with continual refinement and upgrades. It is legendary stuff, and the engine we all know and love dearly is from Subaru.

We sourced this rare low-kilometre and facelift model for a client in Australia.

Our Subaru Impreza was built in January 2010 and is a ‘WRX STI’ model.

That means it’s powered by the epic 2.0-litre straight-six ‘Ej207’ engine with 227kW power, 442Nm torque, and a six-speed manual transmission with adjustable ‘DCCD’ all-wheel drive system.
