A brand new, top-spec and space-cab version of Japan's most-popular kei truck
Standard kit includes keyless entry and start, automatic LED headlights, autonomous emergency braking + more
The Daihatsu Hijet is the best-selling kei truck in Japan.
It’s been a best-seller continuously for over 50-years, so it’s no stranger to being good. Although pricier and slightly heavier than a competitive Suzuki Carry, it is more pleasant to drive overall.
It’ll happily sit at 110km/h on the freeway. It features 4×4, a low-range transfer case + rear diff lock, and Advanced Driver Assist systems (ADAS) like autonomous emergency braking.
Other standard features include keyless entry & start, power windows, dual airbags and parking sensors at both ends. It is a nifty and compact ute with dimensions of 3.39-metres long by 1.47-metres wide. The Hijet Jumbo’s drop-side tray measures up at 1.70-metres long by 1.40-metres wide and will carry around 350kg safely. There is a small bulkhead extension which allows slim lengths of up to 1.90-metres to fit in the tray.
All of our Daihatsu Hijets come with federal-based vehicle compliance that enables them to be road registered in any state in Australia. This one also comes with three-months NSW rego.
The 660cc three-cylinder engine is located in the middle of the vehicle in a longitudinal fashion which creates a fantastic and ergonomic cab-over design. When the vehicle is not locked to 4×4, it is rear-wheel drive.
Huge amounts of steering lock result in a fantastic turning circle of 3.6-metres, and your forward-facing vantage point makes it easy to place in truck tight confides or around tracks on your property or job site.
