The Nismo Aura is premium compact car powered by Nissan’s innovative hybrid driveline.
Combining the best of internal combustion and electric, this hot hatch benefits from instant torque delivery and sporty appointments
Nissan has always done things differently.
From the prevalent use of rear-wheel steering in the 1990s to individual throttle bodies on its two-litre turbo four, the brand loves complex engineering and pushing the envelope.
The Nismo Aura is no different. Beneath the bonnet lies a petrol generator—technically not an engine—that operates without any physical connection to the wheels. Rather, it attaches to a generator, which uses that petrol-spun crankshaft to replenish a small, on-demand battery.
A potent and compact electric motor sits over the front axle and provides the drive instead. What you get in turn is an electric-car-feeling torque curve that’s instant and brawny but powered by petrol.
You simply fill it up at the petrol station sparingly and use it like a normal car. It is a clever method to enjoy the performance advantages of an electric vehicle without the hassle of charging, and it also contributes to a reduction in fuel consumption.
You’ll use around 4 litres for every 100 km travelled, making it highly fuel efficient. Throw in the factory-optional and heated Recaro seats and a dynamic Nismo sports chassis and engine tune, and you end up with quite the compelling hot hatch.
It handles well and is quick on a back road. Modern cars need not be boring! In terms of modern safety and convenience, you’ll find a 360-view parking camera, auto emergency braking forward and backwards, adaptive cruise control, and Apple CarPlay + Android Auto smartphone connectivity.

Built in November 2022, this Nissan Note Aura is a ‘Nismo’ model. That means it’s powered by a petrol-electric hybrid driveline with a combined power figure of 100 kW/135 Nm, with the latter figure dispatched immediately.
Power is sent to the front wheels via a single-speed reduction gear, and the car feels faster than the figures suggest.
Expect fuel economy around 3.8 litres per 100 km travelled, or a pinch better than a Toyota hybrid. It was purchased from USS Tokyo car auctions as a near-new car example with one previous owner. The interior and exterior of this vehicle are wholly original.
The factory equipped it with heated Recaro sports seats and a 360-view camera. Factory accessories include Nismo glass for the side mirrors. Standard features include adaptive cruise control with semi-autonomous mode & lane guidance, auto emergency braking forward and backwards, front and rear parking sensors, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, a heated steering wheel, keyless entry and start, Alcantara and leather interior trim, carbon-look interior trim, automatic headlights, and climate control.
It is very well equipped with multiple USB-C and USB-A charging points, numerous cup holders, and wireless phone charging too. The vehicle was serviced upon arriving in Australia.
