The Nismo Aura is premium compact car powered exclusively by Nissan’s innovative e-POWER drivetrain.
Combining the best of internal combustion and electric, this hybrid hot hatch benefits from instant torque delivery.
Nissan has always done things differently.
From the prevalent use of rear-wheel steering in the 1990s to individual throttle bodies on its two-litre turbo four, the brand loves complex engineering and pushing the envelope.
The Nismo Aura is no different. Under the bonnets lies a petrol generator—not an engine—that is not physically connected to the wheels. Rather, it attaches to a generator, which utilises its petrol-spun crankshaft to replenish a small on-demand battery.
A potent and compact electric motor sits over the front axle and provides the drive instead. What you get in turn is an electric-car-feeling torque curve that’s instant and brawny but powered by petrol.
You simply fill it up at the gasoline station sparingly and use it like a normal car. It is an ingenious way to get the performance benefits of an EV without the charging malarkey, and it also helps reduce its fuel use.
You’ll use around 4 litres for every 100 km travelled, making it highly fuel efficient. Throw in the factory optional Recaro seats, Nismo chassis and engine tune, and you end up with quite the compelling hot hatch.
It handles well and is quick on a back road. Modern cars need not be boring!

This Nissan Note Aura is a ‘Nismo’ trim level that was built in July 2002.
That means it’s powered by a 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine and electric front motor. Combined power figures are 100kW/135Nm, with peak torque available immediately. Power to sent to the front wheels via a single-speed reduction gear.
It presents as new inside and out, and comes with its original manuals and log books. It was purchased from a Japanese car auction near-new car example with one previous owner.
This example was factory optioned with heated Recaro sports seats and surround-view camera. Standard features include adaptive cruise control, auto emergency braking, front and rear parking sensors, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster, keyless entry and start, Alcantara and leather interior trim, carbon look interior trim, automatic headlights and climate control.
