Finished in orange metallic, this Subaru Sambar has a nice host of accessories
Things like a rear-view camera, double-din stereo with USB & Bluetooth connectivity and all-terrain tyres
This Subaru Sambar is a modern-day version of the age-old classic from the Saab of Japan.
However, since the 1990s, the Subaru Sambar has merely been a rebadged version of the Daihatsu Hijet. That’s not a negative thing, however, as the Daihatsu version has been the best-selling kei truck in Japan continuously for over 50 years.
That makes it no stranger to being a hit. Although pricier and slightly heavier than a competitive Suzuki Carry, it is more pleasant to drive overall. This example features 4×4, a low-range transfer case + rear diff lock, and power options. It is a nifty and compact ute with dimensions of 3.39 metres long by 1.47 metres wide.
The Hijet Jumbo’s drop-side tray measures 1.70 metres long by 1.40 metres wide and will carry around 350kg safely. There is a small bulkhead extension that allows slim lengths of up to 1.90 metres to fit in the tray and under the cab.
All of our Subaru Sambars come with federal-based vehicle compliance that enables them to be road registered in any state in Australia. This one also comes with three months of NSW registration.
The 660cc three-cylinder engine is located in the middle of the vehicle in a longitudinal fashion, which creates a fantastic and ergonomic cab-over design. When the vehicle is not locked to 4×4, it is rear-wheel drive.
Huge amounts of steering lock create a fantastic turning circle of 3.6 metres, and your forward-facing vantage point makes it easy to place the truck in tight confines or around tracks on your property or job.
