The Honda N Box is Honda's entry into Japan's most-popular vehicle segment.
And like all Hondas, it's fun to drive and feels quality inside and out
You could consider Honda the BMW of Japan.
They build cars with excellent handling and at one point equipped most of their passenger car lineup with a sophisticated double-wishbone suspension setup.
It only took the Porsche 911 some 50+ years to get to that stage. The quality and thought in Honda’s products are noticeably better than those of rivals Nissan, Toyota, and Suzuki.
Smart features in this car include adaptive cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, full automatic LED headlights, and Honda’s ‘magic’ back seats. As an example of design genius, the second row of seating splits in half and folds both up and down, meaning you can either fold the seat base up and store things in the footwell or fold it completely flat to fit something huge on top.
The second row is surprisingly spacious and will fit either two adults comfortably or two child seats with ease. Other sweet touches include dual electric sliding doors, keyless entry & start, and plenty of cup holders.
The engine feels strong, and its ride quality is more controlled than other kei-class cars. It’ll do 110 km/h on the motorway just fine, making it the ideal second car to have in the household.
It’s the most resolved-looking kei car on the market too, and has a high perceived quality at first glance.
The car pictured – 2019 Honda N-Box Custom G-EX Turbo
This Honda N-Box Custom was built in July 2019 and is a ‘G-EX Turbo’ trim level.
That means it’s powered by a 660cc three-cylinder ‘S07B’ turbocharged engine with 47 kW of power and 104 Nm of torque. It features an automatic transmission and is front-wheel drive.
Factory options include two-tone metallic paint and features black and pleather interior trim. As a high-spec G-EX Turbo model, it features adaptive cruise control with lane-keeping assist, keyless entry and push-button start, a rear-view camera, electric sliding doors on both sides, automatic emergency braking (city—low speed), front and rear parking sensors, multiple USB charging ports, full LED headlights, and suede/pleather interior trim.
The Japanese stereo works well with Bluetooth and smartphone connectivity; however, we can install an Australian JVC stereo with Apple CarPlay + Android Auto for extra. We purchased this vehicle, grade 4.5B, from Tokyo, Japan. It presents in above-average condition for its age, with its exterior wholly original.
The interior presents as new, too. It comes with a Honda service history, and it was also serviced in Australia by our workshop.
