Like the idea of a Kei truck but want more cabin space? Look no further.
This one features 4x4, low range & rear diff lock plus power options
The Suzuki Carry is an automotive legend.
Aside from being sold new in dealerships continuously for over 50 years, the humble Suzuki Carry also garnered a solid reputation of reliability along the way. Just go to Japan, and you’ll see millions of them empowering building sites, helping farmers, or merely transporting equipment to and from sites.
Suzuki’s endearing truck comes in two flavours: Suzuki Carry with a regular cab and Suzuki Super Carry as a space cab. What you are looking at here is the latter—a Suzuki Super Carry—with nifty and compact exterior dimensions of 3.39 meters long by 1.47 meters wide.
The drop-side rear tray will lug around 350 kg safely and measures up at 1.48 meters long by 1.41 meters wide. There is a small hatch where you can load ‘thin’ lengths—like timber or conduit—up to 1.85 meters long.
Another positive the space cab offers is extra cabin space. You’ll find full-size front seats in a Super Carry, as well as more legroom/headroom compared to a regular single-cab Carry. Other extras include a 30 cm storage shelf in the rear of the cab too—perfect for your dog to ride with you instead of in the tray.
Doggo can enjoy the amenity with you, as this example was factory-optioned auto emergency braking, lane departure warning, power windows, remote central locking, and air conditioning. The 660cc three-cylinder engine is located in the middle of the vehicle in a longitudinal fashion, which creates a fantastic and ergonomic cab-over design.
When the vehicle is not locked to 4×4, it is rear-wheel drive. Huge amounts of steering lock result in a fantastic turning circle of 3.6 meters, and your forward-facing vantage point makes it easy to place in truck tight confides or up-and-around tracks on your property or job site.
Another talking point is its kerb weight of just 840kg – making it nimble, great on fuel, and fun to drive. All of our Suzuki Carrys come with certification and federal-based vehicle road vehicle compliance, which means they can be road registered in any state or territory in Australia.
The car pictured – 2018 Suzuki Super Carry X 4×4
This Suzuki Super Carry was built in September 2018 and is an X’ model.
That means it’s powered by the steadfast 660cc three-cylinder ‘R06A’ engine and features a five-speed manual transmission with 4×4, low-range transfer case and rear differential lock.
Factory options include dual airbags, silver metallic paint, automatic emergency braking (city – low speed), power windows, remote central locking and a double-din stereo. The tray is in above-average condition and with a minor marks consummate with age. The interior presents well and does not show signs of being treated poorly.
It was purchased from USS Tokyo as a grade 4.5B example and comes with a detailed service history, original owner’s manual, two keys and Japanese export certificate. Locally, we installed a set of JDM Mad-Cross 12×4 inch wheels with new Dunlop tyres.
These rims are the same rolling diameter as factory, however they 0.5 inch wider, which further promotes high-speed stability. Other small details include front fog lights, rear exterior light mounted on the rear window guard and exterior weather shields.
