Nissan holds its Skyline badge for its most dynamic driver's cars

This one features a high-performance V6, power-boosting hybrid techniology and a rear-wheel drive layout

Nissan products often feel more athletic than others from Japan.

Its legendary Skyline has maintained this status quo for decades now, having been a sharp and dynamic performance car brand for well over 50-years.

Nissan has generally reserved its Skyline badge for high-performance six-cylinder sedans. The 2014 Nissan Skyline Hybrid features a 225kW/350Nm version of Nissan’s VQ35DE V6 engine – as seen in the Nissan 350Z – that’s further boosted by a hybrid system.

Total power output is over 240kW, and it achieves fuel economy figures equal to a small hatchback (offical claim 5.5L/100KM). In the real-world we’ve seen fuel use around 6 litres per 100km, which makes this performance sedan as fuel efficient as a Toyota Corolla.

Its on-board electric motor generates a maximum torque of 290Nm alone. All of that tech is wrapped in a sophisticated rear-wheel drive platform with a double wishbone front end and a tidy independent multi-link rear.

It has plenty of modern luxury too: electric and heated leather seats with two-position memory, adaptive cruise control, 360-view camera with front and rear parking sensors, blind spot monitor and automatic emergency braking.

It’s a clever car that shuns the idea of an SUV for better driving dynamics and hybrid fuel-saving tech instead.

This Nissan Skyline Hybrid was built in February 2016 and is a Type SP model.

That means it’s powered by a 3.5-litre VQ35DE engine and hybrid fuel-saving e-motor. It features a seven-speed torque-converter automatic with steering wheel paddle shifters and is rear-wheel drive. Fuel use is around 5.5L / 100km.

As Type SP model, it features leather trim, front heated seats with two position memory, keyless entry and start, lane keeping assistance, automatic LED headlights, adaptive cruise control, blind spot monitor, front + rear parking sensors, 360-view, rear-view and side-view camera, sports suspension, 19-inch wheels, premium stereo system, Bluetooth connectivity and more.

The infotainment and gauge cluster all read in English. This vehicle was purchased from USS Osaka as a Grade 4.5B vehicle in excellent condition with a full service history and two keys.
