Receiving an Japanese auction house grading of 5A...
Means this second-hand Hijet still looks like new
The Daihatsu Hijet is the best-selling kei truck in Japan.
It’s been a best-seller continuously for over 50 years, so it’s no stranger to being outstanding. Compared to a Suzuki Carry, it offers a smoother and quieter experience behind the wheel. This example is equipped with 4×4, dual airbags, air conditioning and power options. It is a nifty and compact ute with dimensions of 3.39 metres long by 1.47 metres wide.
The Hijet Jumbo’s drop-side tray measures up at 1.70 metres long by 1.40 metres wide and will carry around 350 kg safely. There is a small bulkhead extension that allows slim lengths of up to 1.90 metres to fit in the tray, too.
We provide federal-based vehicle compliance for all our Daihatsu Hijets, allowing for road registration in any Australian state. This one also comes with three months of NSW rego.
The 660cc three-cylinder engine is located in the middle of the vehicle in a longitudinal fashion, which creates a fantastic and ergonomic cab-over design. When the vehicle is not locked to 4×4, it is rear-wheel drive.
Huge amounts of steering lock result in a fantastic turning circle of 3.6 metres, and a forward-facing vantage point makes it easy to place the truck in tight confines or around tracks on your property or job site.
The car pictured – 2015 Daihatsu Hijet Jumbo Extra 4×4
This Daihatsu Hijet Jumbo is an ‘Extra’ model and was built in October 2016. It is finished in the optional colour ‘Ice Blue metallic’.
It was purchased as a one-owner vehicle from a Japanese auction house. The vehicle was graded ‘5A – as new’, which is unusual for an older kei truck. That is an honest reflection of this vehicle’s condition, as it genuinely and honestly looks and smells like new!
It’s powered by a 660cc three-cylinder ‘KF’ engine that’s built by Toyota and known to go the distance. It features a regular torque-converter-equipped automatic transmission with selectable 4×4 (otherwise RWD). As a top-spec ‘Extra’ model, it gets power windows, remote central locking, a CD player with double-DIN provision, dual airbags, air conditioning and ABS. It comes with two keys, a logbook with service history and its original owner’s manual.
The only additions include a sweet set of five-spoke alloy wheels. The vehicle was serviced upon arriving in Australia.
