This car unites Toyota's reliable & 232kW six-cylinder with a formidable rear-wheel-drive chassis
As a flagship model, this specific car also packs a lot of luxury
The 2008 Toyota Crown Athlete – known as the ‘GRS204’ – is the jack of all trades.
It’s an extremely versatile vehicle with plenty of power, driving the right (rear) wheels and with more features than your mate’s BMW or Mercedes-Benz.
Standard kit inclues heated and air contioned leather seats, heated and electric rear seats, keyless entry & start, front & rear parking sensors, and so the list goes.
Power comes from a 3.5-litre V6 engine with 232 kW/377 Nm. Codenamed ‘2GR’, it’s a naturally aspirated engine that’s featured in everything from high-end Lexus products to your Nan’s Toyota Kluger.
Call it a workhorse; it’s dependable, reliable as sin, and even powered a Toyota Tarago to a hilarious victory against a Porsche at Sydney Motorsport Park (watch here).
It’s surprisingly pokey too, especially when paired with a crisp-shifting six-speed automatic transmission. The front-end features a double-wishbone setup for optimal control, while the rear is equipped with a precise multi-link rear suspension that outperforms both American and European vehicles.
You can’t argue against it, apart from the fact it looks a bit discreet.

Our Toyota Crown Athlete G was built in October 2011 and was purchased from USS Nagoya (Japan) as a 4.0B grade vehicle. Being a late 2011 model makes it a facelift, or ‘series two’, version that features updated headlights and taillights, improved interior trims, and minor mechanical changes.
It is also a top-spec ‘G’ variant, meaning it features features keyless entry and start, leather trim, heated and cooled electric front seats with two position memory and electric lumbar support, a rear-view and side-view camera, a rear electric sun blind, rear heated seats with electric adjustment, front & rear parking sensors and cruise control.
The car presents in great condition inside and out. The car has never been involved in a collision, and its underside is free of corrosion. The interior is in excellent condition, and the vehicle has not been smoked in. The leather seats are remarkably unworn and in excellent condition.
Its factory touchscreen infotainment system can be upgraded to support Apple CarPlay / Android Auto for an extra cost. The vehicle has been fitted with a genuine set of Weds Kranze wheels in factory sizes with new high-quality tyres. The car was also serviced upon arriving in Australia.
The ‘2GR’ Toyota engine was sold in Australia, so parts are readily available. We also keep a stock holding of genuine Toyota and aftermarket parts like oil/air filters, spark plugs + more.
