Over the past 25 years, Subaru's performance arm has released a limited-number of tuned road cars

It started with the 22b, and later spawned hardcore S- and R-series Imprezas

Subaru Technica International – STI – is Subaru’s in-house performance division.

Its main focus is building and running Subaru’s various motorsport efforts around the world, but it does occassionally find time to build its own limited-edition road cars.

You can browse STI’s whole lineage of road cars here. We believe the late 2000s era of Impreza WRX STI is criminally undervalued considering what it offers and its hardware.

It also makes special-series examples like this car equally good value too. Things that are good about the R205 include a revised power output to a hearty 235 kW/432 Nm, a ball-bearing and twin-scroll turbo for ultimate response, and 450 mm front rotors with six-piston Brembo brakes to slow it all down.

As expected, it has some STI bendy bars with a joint in the middle for good measure. We love the hatchback body type STI, as despite not being a prevalent STI rally car, it still looks the most rally of the lot.

Furthermore, this Impreza STI rocks the same EJ207 2.0-litre engine that initially garnered fame for Colin’s 1999 rally car, making it an invaluable mechanical talking point.

They won’t be cheap forever!

The car pictured – 2010 Subaru Impreza STI R205

This Subaru Impreza was built in February 2010 and is an ‘STI R205’ model finished in pearl white.

It is number 106 of 400 produced. Power comes from the legendary ‘Ej207’ 2.0-litre turbocharged flat-four engine.

This vehicle was purchased from USS Tokyo as a one-owner and grade 4.5B example. It comes with its new car manuals and a service history. It is an original example that has escaped the perils of modification and also wears its original paint.

The discoloured patches of factory paint protection film will be skilfully removed by our detailing team. The vehicle presents in above average condition and would be one of the few left intact and as it left the factory.

Standard features on R205 models include forged BBS alloy wheels, revised ECU tune, upgraded suspension, upgraded control arms, additional bracing, intercooler water spray, a larger diameter exhaust system, Brembo six-piston front brakes and more.
