A humble Toyota Corolla factory-fitted with a 200-kilowatt 3.5-litre V6 engine
And with just 41,000km on the clock, this one has been barely used!
Yes – Toyota unbelievably fitted its 3.5-litre ‘2GR’ V6 engine into the humble Corolla.
It’s the same engine most-famously seen in the Toyota Crown, Toyota Mark X, Toyota Aurion, and others. Called the Toyota Blade Master, it was a niche product that was sold exclusively in Japan over a three-year period from 2007 until 2009. In that time, Toyota only managed to sell 2,880 examples of its Blade Master, making it quite a rare car from what is the largest car brand in the world.
The six-speed auto features paddle-shifters to entice the driver, and on a sweeping back road the old Blade isn’t a bad thing to have at your side.
It feels very Un-Toyota inside too, with extensive use of Alcantara on its doors, dashboard, gauger cluster surround and its seats. A floating gear shift console and orange interior illumination both feel inspired by Europe, too.
Toyota beefed up the suspension and brakes to handle the extra potency – just stick your head under the back and take a look at the upgraded levels of rear-axle adjustment it has.

Our Toyota Blade was built in May 2008 and is a ‘Master’ trim level.
That means it’s powered by a 3.5-litre naturally-aspirated ‘2GR-FE’ V6 engine with 206kW of power and 344Nm of torque. Power to sent to the front wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters.
Standard features include keyless entry and start, a reverse camera, Alcantara interior trim, automatic headlights and climate control. Factory options include corner parking sensors and a set of TRD wheels (made by Rays engineering).
This example has also covered just 41,061km from new. It comes with a Japanese export certificate, some service history, two keys, a few genuine Toyota accessories and a new set of Continental tyres.
