Japan makes a Bahnstormer, too.
With air suspension, a primo V8 engine and reliability for days, it's probably a smarter buy over something from Germany
You’re not a car guy until you’ve driven something VIP.
We are referring to a high-end, fully equipped vehicle, such as a BMW 7 Series or Mercedes-Benz S-Class. Owning a flagship luxury car that can accommodate five people is a romantic idea that most car enthusiasts explore as they come of age.
Why waste time driving something uncouth? On the outside, the Lexus LS460 is classically prestigious, well proportioned, and understated. On the inside, it’s quiet, plush, and luxurious. This example is a flagship version with heated and cooled front seats, rear electric and heated seats with electric side and rear blinds, plus a rear cooler box for your beverages.
There aren’t many cars as well equipped as an LS460. It rides on air suspension like a big European luxury car and also has a distinct yet high-end-feeling V8 that feels effortless. The eight-speed auto is also part of that secret driveline recipe. However, the best part of this package is reliability.
Where its German competitors will age poorly and cost you the world to keep on the road, a Lexus LS460 will simply chug along under the routine maintenance schedule without fault or fuss.
They are bulletproof.
The car pictured – 2006 Lexus LS460 Version U I Package
This Lexus LS460 was built in December 2006 and is a ‘Version U I Package’ trim level.
That makes it a top-of-the-range model. It’s powered by a 4.6-litre quad-cam ‘1UR’ V8 engine with 283kw/ 493Nm. It features Toyota’s d4S direct injection and port fuel injection system, dual variable valve timing with event control on the intake side, and an awesome eight-speed torque-converter automatic. It was the first production car in the world with an eight-speed auto!
As a top-of-the-range Version U I Pacakge, it features leather trim, adaptive cruise control with lane keeping assist, heated and cooled electric seats with 14-ways of adjustment, heated and electric rear seats, a rear cooler box for drinks, side and rear electric sun blinds, four-zone climate control, an electric sunroof, driver attention monitor, adaptive air suspension keyless entry and plenty other luxury features.
It was purchased in Japan via its domestic auction network and was graded 4.0B and noted as a one-owner vehicle. It presents in above-average condition and comes with a detailed Lexus service history from new. Alongside being well maintained in Japan, the vehicle has undergone a minor service upon arriving in Australia.
The paint is wholly-original and the underside shows no evidence of action on salty roads. The only two minor imperfections on the car incldue a small and shallow dent on the rear quarter panel and a paint imperfection on the driver’s side of the rear bumper.
