The Mark II Blit unites two things we hold dear – a turbocharged straight six and a wagon body type.

We are not alone in our thoughts, as good examples are now in high demand.

The Toyota Mark II Blit Ir-V is another unique proposition from Toyota.

Unlike the Toyota Crown Estate – also powered by the same meaty 1JZ single-turbo engine – the Mark II is built on the famed rear-wheel drive ‘X’ chassis platform. The Mark II Blit shares its chassis with the Toyota Chaser, making it more capable, athletic, and responsive than the Crown.

It’s the only time we saw a wagon body type on the sporty rear-wheel-drive Toyota ‘X’ chassis too, making it a rare thing. Toyota didn’t build many examples over the short production run — 1,353 units in total, with just 234 finished in silver — making the good ones few and far between.

This example is largely original and wears its original paint. If you favour Toyota’s best inline-six turbo but also want the convenience, practicality and cool factor of a wagon, here you go.

It’s the first example we’ve had in three years and may just be the last!

The car pictured – 2002 Toyota Mark II Blit Ir-V

This Toyota Mark II Blit is an IR-V model that was built in November 2002. We acquired it as a grade 4.0B vehicle from an auction in the Osaka region of Japan.

It was factory fitted with a ‘1JZ-GTE’ 2.5-litre variable-valve timed and turbocharged straight-six which produced 206 kilowatts / 378 newton metres of torque. Power is sent through a tough four-speed auto and onward to the rear wheels.

As an ‘Ir-V’ model, it features dual airbags, remote central locking, electric front seats, cup holders, upmarket cloth trim and a rear electric latching tailgate. Factory options include a sports aero grille. The car still features its original hard parcel shelf and comes with its original owner’s manual and two keys. Aftermarket extras are limited to a Blitz exhaust and Greddy adjustable suspension.

The vehicle presents in excellent condition inside and out and still wears its original paint. There are numerous service stickers on the vehicle that confirm it’s had routine servicing, and we have also serviced the vehicle upon its arrival in Australia. A new set of quality tyres was also fitted.
