The Toyota MR-S (or MR2) is a staple of the affordable sports car fraternity and has held that place for over 30 years.
By the third generation, Toyota mastered the mid-engine layout’s balance and gifted the third generation’s chassis with a neutral, communicative feeling. Benefiting from a sub-1000 kg kerb weight, the Toyota Mr-S feels alert and exciting.
It reminds you of what driving is all about. Quick steering and a light front end make it feel poised, and its breakaway point leaves you time to decide your future and keep it going straight.
The car is rewarding and eager to perform, and it is arguably more exotic than its competitors because of its mid-engine driveline layout. This example is a fancy S edition model with red trim, gunmetal exteiror accents and remains totally original with an excellent Toyota service history.

The car pictured – 2000 Toyota MR-S S edition
This Toyota MR-S was built in June 2000 and was configured in ‘8M6 – blue metallic’. As an ‘S Edition’ model, it’s factory-fitted with a red interior and gunmetal grey exterior accents.
Power comes from a ‘1ZZ’ 1.8-litre four-cylinder petrol engine and a factory five-speed manual transmission. It was purchased from USS Hokuriku (Japan) as a 4.0B grade and certified one-owner example. it comes with a detailed Toyota service history from new and has never been modified before.
Standard features include keyless entry & start, power windows and mirrors, a factory-optioned Pioneer CD player, air conditioning, cup holders, a rear storage area and a front storage box. We can fit Apple CarPlay / Android auto for extra.
The vehicle presents in fantastic condition for its age. It wears original paint and has never been repaired before. There are no significant flaws or damage; however, there are minor paint imperfections in line with its age and use. The soft top features two minor patch marks from use, but it does not leak and maintains a good appearance and good seal.
The ‘1ZZ’ Toyota engine used in this vehicle was sold in Australia in the Toyota Corolla, so parts are readily available. The car also includes some original brochures and magazines from its initial release as a nice souvenir.
