Owned by Australian star and all-round good guy GrentPerez,

This Toyota Mark II has been customised to his liking

Toyota X-chassis vehicles are steeped in drift history.

Big hits from this back catalogue include the JZX81 Chaster, the JZX90 Cresta, the JZX100 Chaser, and even the later-model JZX110 Mark II, too. All of these cars are regularly seen in media like Drift Tengoku and can also still be seen sliding around every drifting venue in Japan.

It’s the ‘Chosen One’ in terms of a vehicle platform that slides. We originally imported this example into Australia for Grant Perez, who performs around the world under the stage name GrentPerez.

Grant Perez, our favourite Australian musical export, shares our passion for cars. That means you should listen to his music.

Nearly two years later, and after Grant conducted a host of shows on his world tour, we sourced him another identical car with a factory turbocharged engine.

It came at a significant cost, so he must face the music and part with the old. Despite its mileage, it presents like a much younger car and features a detailed and full Toyota service history.

If you’re after a cool car with some star power, this JZX100 is ripe for the picking.

About the car pictured – 1999 Toyota Mark II Grande G

Grant’s Toyota Mark II (JZX100) was from March 1999 and is a ‘Grande G’ model.

That means it’s powered by a naturally aspirated 2.5-litre ‘1JZ-GE’ straight-six engine. It’s finished in a pearl-white and silver two-tone and is the flagship variant in its range.

That means it comes factory-fitted with a digital dashboard, climate-controlled air conditioning, power steering, remote central locking, driver and passenger airbags, and electric seats. The vehicle presents in above-average condition and is largely overall from an exterior and interior perspective.

It was purchased in Japan via their domestic auction network and was graded 3.5B and comes with a full Toyota service history. Grant has sprinkled his magic on the vehicle, which includes genuine 18-inch AVS wheels, BC adjustable suspension, Grant’s signature purple interior lighting, and multiple other touch points.

The Japanese double-DIN stereo has Bluetooth connectivity.
