Get your Need For Speed on in real life with the iconic C5 Corvette

This example is extra-special as an offical Japan-new model

The Chevrolet Corvette is a sports car icon that needs no introduction.

However, despite the initial excitement surrounding the C1 and C2 generations, the subsequent C3 and C4 models during the 1980s were unimpressive and fell short of expectations.

Only in the 1990s did Chevrolet regain its reputation and start producing exceptional sports cars once more. The C5 Corvette was a giant upgrade from the previous C5 model and was also one of the first GM vehicles to feature its then-new 5.7-litre LS1 V8 engine.

This Corvette is a familiar and beloved vehicle in our world, having served as the power source for our legendary Holden Commodores. This particular Corvette is special in that it was an official General Motors Japan-new market model that featured all factory RHD parts—apart from the steering layout.

It has a factory GM KM/H speedometer, RHD-oriented headlights, orange indicator lenses, and plenty of other world-market-specific parts. On top of being right for Australia, this one-owner, Japan-new example was fully optioned with a heads-up display and adaptive chassis control.

When you add the metallic silver paint, you create a visually striking piece that excels in both value and performance.

The car pictured – 1999 Chevrolet C5 Corvette

Built in April 1999, this Chevrolet Corvette is a fifth-generation C5 model.

That means it’s powered by a 5.7-litre ‘LS1’ V8 engine with 257 kW / 474 Nm and features a four-speed automatic transmission. It was delivered new to Japan via Yanase as an official General Motors new product that was built in Bowling Green, Kentucky, with OEM right-hand drive market options.

That includes a factory KM/H speed, orange indicators, side markers, correct E-marked glass, and plenty of other extras. This example has had one owner from new and is totally original down to its paintwork and optional door edge protectors.

Factory spec includes optional heads-up display, optional adaptive suspension, power steering, climate control, power windows, electric seats with driver’s side memory, traction control system, removable targa roof and more.

It comes with a service history, Japanese auction paperwork (Grade 4.5B), and an export certificate confirming its mileage. Upon arriving in Australia, the vehicle was comprehensively serviced with new filters, oils, and belts. Its removable targa roof is in great condition and can be stowed away in the boot.

The vehicle presents in well above average condition and will suit a fussy buyer!
