For over 50 years, the Suzuki Carry has dominated the light commercial vehicle market in Japan.
It’s now finally available here in Australia. It’s a nifty and compact ute with a 4×4 and decent ground clearance. We’ve hopped up this example with a set of genuine JDM Weds wheels to add a touch of style.
Another talking point is a sub-700 kg kerb weight, which makes it highly fuel-efficient and also fun to drive. The tray has drop sides and measures up at 1.95 metres long by 1.40 metres wide, carrying around 350 kg safely.
Our Suzuki Carrys come with road registration and federal-based vehicle certification, meaning they can be used on the street in any state in Australia.
Its three-cylinder engine is located in the middle of the vehicle in a longitudinal fashion, which creates a fantastic and ergonomic cab-over design. When the vehicle is not locked to 4×4, it is rear-wheel drive.
Huge amounts of steering lock create a fantastic turning circle of 3.6 metres, and your forward-facing vantage point makes it easy to manoeuvre in the city or out in the bush.

This Suzuki Carry was built in July 2023 and features a five-speed manual model with selectable four-wheel drive.
It was purchased from USS Osaka at a grade 5.0B vehicle in close to new condition, similar to a demonstrator. The tray shows no signs of use or abuse, and its interior still smells new. We fitted a set of genuine Weds 12×4 inch wheels with high-quality Bridgestone tyres. If you prefer the originals, we can knock some dollars off the price.
It’s powered by a 660cc three-cylinder ‘R06A’ engine, which is renowned for its reliability. The exterior is totally original and features no major blemishes or marks; the same goes for the interior. The car also comes with two keys and its original logbooks and manuals. The vehicle was serviced upon arriving in Australia.
