For over 70-years, the Mercedes-Benz SL has been the watermark for luxury roadsters
In today's day and age, it's still the same story
The Mercedes-Benz SL has been a dominating force in the field of high-end luxury roadsters for over 70 years.
Starting off with the wild and complex 300 SL, the lineage continued to produce bangers right until today. The current R232-generation SL remains a fast, suave and sexy four-seat roadster.
As expected in today’s day and age, the current SL benefits from turbocharged and hybrid assistance. The Mercedes-AMG four-cylinder powerplant in the 43 – as seen in the A45 range – is an absolute menace of an engine.
It features way more torque than you’d ever expect from a turbo-four and will sing right until the redline. An electrical system further augments power, providing even more instantaneous shove and making it significantly faster than the paper figures suggest.
Lastly, its exterior styling has lost none of the class that made it hot to begin with. Its size, scale and proportions ooze substance and seriousness. It looks like a far more expensive car than it really is.
Australia has a long love affair with Benz’s best roadster, so we’re glad to be bringing over the latest and greatest model.
